Banded
My hair is sadly going through a very awkward stage in the growing-out process. The brand new hair coming in is great (much better than being bald from chemo), but it's much shorter than the rest that didn't fall out. I wish I had the courage to just cut it all off to the same length for a fresh start, but I've worked so hard at growing it out that I don't want to cut it unless I have a really bad mullet.
To avoid appearing like I have a mullet, I have been straightening my hair to the best of my abilities, and wearing headbands. This weekend I went on a bit of a headband shopping spree to add to my current collection; but I keep reminding myself they were all super cheap and that I can keep wearing them when I have long hair again (which feels like a lifetime from now, but extensions are just way too expensive). I now have ten!
Have you ever grown out your hair? What did you do to control it and make it a little less awkward? For now, I will simply disguise my frustration with my hair with these fun little accessories.

Happy 100th Post Day!
Today is exciting as it marks my 100th post! I must say I'm rather proud of myself for sticking with this here blog. It has really brought creativity back into my life. Thank you to everyone who has kept up with me, too, and has left such wonderful comments!
On that note, I have a little favor to ask those of you using RSS feeds (such as Google Reader). Would you mind popping on over here to the "real" blog for just a moment? My tracking program sadly does not count when people using readers read my blog, so I don't have an accurate measure of who's here. It will only take a few seconds and would really make my day. Like a "Happy 100th Post" present. :)
Anyway, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I got my haircut, which may sound strange since I'm trying to grow it out... but I have to grow out the top section first or else the bottom part will grow into a very unpleasant-looking mullet. After Saturday's cut, it looks somewhat like this:
Oh, if we could all be as glamorous as Twiggy...
I've been trying to be so patient. I just have to accept the fact that I'm not going to wake up with long locks again anytime soon; this is going to take awhile, and I have to be excited for the various stages in between the above look and a length that reaches the middle of my back.
For the time being, I'll be looking forward to my hair looking like this:

The Commons
I woke up to the most beautiful morning today! It will be in the low 70's today and tomorrow, sunny through and through!
I had a fantastic, ultra productive three-day weekend. Ran a lot of errands, did a lot of cleaning, and even made the drive all the way up to the Skagit River Valley (northeast of Seattle) to go to the tulip festival! (I'll post pictures in the near future...)
For today, I had planned to focus on tulips... but during my search for photographs, I came upon Flickr's newest project, The Commons.
The Commons is a place to view the world's public photography archives, and add whatever information you may know about specific photos, therefore enriching the collection. Maybe I'm late in discovering this, but it's just too cool not to share! If you don't have a Flickr/Yahoo account, I would highly suggest signing up just to access this amazing collection.

(this title is a bit misleading, using "camp" for "prison"... amazing how they could still smile and look oh so fashionable during such a horrible time in history)

Life in Plastic, It's Fantastic!
I know Barbie's 50th anniversary is so last week, but I still wanted to post about it today. First off, you can see the entire Barbie portion of February's New York Fashion Week below (it's like their own version of "Looks From Life"!):
I swear I had a Barbie & Ken duo from the late '80s that looked just like this (except my Ken had a white tuxedo with rhinestone-laden lapels).
I would put them together, naked, in a shoebox and shove it under my bed for awhile. Soon after, Barbie's tight top would be stuffed with tissue, and minutes later, out would pop a couple of impeccably-clothed twin Barbie babies! Oh, the mind of a four-year old...

The hair on all of the models is just too perfect. And the pink stilettoes? Oh so classically Barbie.
I'd also like to leave you with this hilarious tidbit. Hopefully it will make for a better Monday! I hope your weekends were fabulous (I climbed a bunch of stairs!).

Untamed
I chopped all my hair off last July to prep for chemo, and it's finally coming in thick again. I can actually sort of straighten it and flip little bits out here and there. Even though it wasn't really my choice, having short hair was a nice style change (as my hair had always been very long), and it often proved to be very convenient and easy to style; however, I am so, so, so excited for my long hair to return. I'm going to have to remain patient for a while longer, but soon enough I will be able to toss it around again!
While we're waiting for my locks to grow back, take a look at these fun (and a little wild) hairstyles! Gimme volume!

Hair or otherwise, have you ever made (or been forced to make) a drastically different style change (i.e. "I'm going to get a cute bob" vs. "I got gum stuck in my hair so I had to cut it into this [cute] bob")? Please share your story!
On a slightly different hair note, I mentioned the other day in my daily routine some hair products I like to use (I forgot to mention I'm head-over-heels for Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo & Conditioner - the mondo economy size with the convenient hand pump!). What do you use on a regular basis? What is your favorite?
