Home Sweet Home

I currently live in a rented apartment -- meaning NO painting, NO re-tiling the kitchen backsplash, and NO washer/dryer in unit. UGH. I do what I can by hanging beautiful art on the walls; however, doing so still doesn't distract me from my daydreams of owning a home of my own...

Please Be Mine?

The other night, the boyfriend told me to keep February 19th open because he's made Valentine's Day plans. Sure, it's a little belated, but personally, I don't care what day we celebrate it on. The fact that he made surprise plans is reason enough to celebrate on any day!

Talk of this love-dovey holiday's got me thinking about all things pink-and-frilly-with-hearts...

What do you wear between the seasons?

My original plan for this post was to come up with a thrifty version of this designer look by photographer Andreas Johansson. I thought it was a perfectly comfy, somewhat tousled look; exactly what you might find me wearing on a day when you can't quite tell if it's winter or spring.

As I said above, my intent was to be chic on the cheap... but some of my choices ended up being a little more expensive than I had originally planned. I can't help it! They're just so pretty! Oh well, a girl can dream.

Below you will find the pieces you need to recreate this look on your own. Just hang up some gauzy white curtains and you can hold your own photoshoot!

Dogwood blossoms

It's snowing in Seattle this morning. Not enough to cancel work, but definitely enough to chill me to the bone!

I'm so sorry for the dearth of posts yesterday. I promise an ultra swoonworthy post later today. For now, I leave you with this beautiful photograph from Etsy merchant buckscountyframes to remind us that spring will arrive in just a few short months. First step toward spring? STOP SNOWING (although it is rather pretty...).

Beige - Boring or Beautiful?

I always promised myself never to turn into my mother and wear BEIGE all the time. How BORING.

But I think it might be happening...

I just can't seem to stay away from cream-colored ANYTHING, especially when its accompanied by some kind of beautiful texture.

These beautiful dresses are from the Australian brand, Morrison, which I just recently learned about from Mrs. French. Have I been hiding under a rock?! *swoon*

This pillow's three-dimensional design is amazing; however, I'm not sure if I like the fact that it's made out of leather. It's just not your typical cozy cotton.

Although not as textural, I love the clean lines of this creamy Drexel Heritage sofa. And the carved legs are to-die-for!

And this Jonathan Adler-esque lamp from Plantation has such a wonderful sculptural quality you don't normally find in lighting.

Am I crazy for being so obsessed with "boring beige?"

Um, and guess what? I'm wearing a beige peacoat as I write this... Yup, definitely turning into my mother.

"The feeling of sleepiness when you are not in bed, and can't get there, is the meanest feeling in the world" - Edgar Watson Howe

It has been ridiculously foggy in Seattle recently. Walking home from the grocery store last night felt like I was in the middle of the moors in Wuthering Heights (with fewer peat bogs, of course). And even though the days are beginning to stay lighter for just a little bit longer, the fog definitely has a tendency to make me a bit sleepier than usual…

This morning, for example, I had a very difficult time getting out of bed, giving me an idea for a post of tousled sheets and pillows.

They’re hauntingly beautiful, just like the fog, don’t you think? Oh how I would love to climb right into these pictures and fall back to sleep.

Welcome to Swoonworthy!

After much debate and blog-host shuffling, I have decided to finally start up this blog as a place to discuss all things beautiful (mostly because I’m still rather new to this and can’t decide what to focus on!).

I have spent most of the last year fighting cancer (and blogging about it here), and now that I’m (hopefully) cancer-free, I can go on to writing about more wonderful things. More swoonworthy things!

I hope you will join me and open up about what you find to be swoonworthy in this beautiful world of ours!
